Stephen Hammill and Rommie Johnson - Couch Potatoes

Baseball & Indie Rock, Together At last

In one of those “WTF”-moments that makes us giddy as schoolchildren, Take-Two Interactive has announced a partnership with influential indie-music Web site Pitchfork Media for the upcoming game, “Major League Baseball 2K8.”

What does it mean when a trendy music tastemaker and a sports video game come together? How does an in-game soundtrack featuring Sub Pop and Matador bands strike your fancy?

The game, which drops March 4, will include music by Dinosaur Jr., LCD Soundsystem, Modest Mouse, The Hold Steady, The Cure and The Strokes to name a few.

Here’s a link to the story and the full song list (you need to scroll down to find it).

  • Master Sergeant in 'Rainbow Six: Vegas'ROMMIE JOHNSON is a standard carbon-based lifeform who covers entertainment for TBO.com and the Tribune as an occasional diversion from the maelstrom of doubt that boils within.

  • And, yes, he gets paid for this. Which is a good thing, because his parents are raising the rent.
