Yes, we’re sick with anticipation for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” the final book of the Harry Potter series, to be released July 21. And yes, we’ve re-read all or part of the previous books, debated whether Professor Snape is good or evil, and pondered Harry’s ultimate fate. So now we need something else, which is why we have created a new contest that will 1) kill some time so you don’t just sit around waiting for the book to come out and 2) give you an excuse to go back and read your favorite parts of the first six books. Hey, we’re here to help.
J.K. Rowling, author of the Potter series, has said she wrote the last paragraph of the series years ago. This paragraph supposedly ends with this word: scar. That’s the final word of the whole series. I think we all know what scar she might be talking about.
Our challenge to you is: write what you think will be, or would like to see, as the last paragraph of the series. The only restrictions are 1) keep it to no more than 200 words and 2) “scar” must be the last word. I will judge the best of the lot (with the help of several Potter nuts I work with). The winner will be announced before “Deathly Hallows” is released and will receive some sort of prize. Don’t ask what, we’re sort of flying by the seat of our broomsticks here. But I will announce the prize here when we figure out what it is, plus other updates.

In Godric’s Hollow at Harry’s mum and dad’s graves, Voldermort lay dead killed by the now great Auror, Harry Potter. Snape was still fighting Ron, Hermione and Neville. Harry went over and yelled “Avada Kedavra” and his wand was pointed straight at Snape, Snape fell in a heap his eyes looking straight up. Harry’s mum and dad’s ghost figures were always going to be there for him. Harry looked up towards the Heavens and knew that Dumbledore was watching him. Knowing that all the Horcruxes were destroyed Harry would never again have to worry about his famous scar.

I like reading all the endings, but I have to say my top three are Michelle Kirschmann, Alyssa Williams, and Elizabeth Thomas. You all have great endings. I sent mine in but it was WAY to long. I’m looking foreward to the new book, and reading more “alternate endings.”

as harry, ron, and hermonie looked over at voldermort lying on the floor and knowing all the horcruxes were destroyed, harry turned and said ah professior why did you let us think all those angry thought about you all these years? why did you not tell us the truth? then professor snape turned to harry and said i thought it was clear i owed you the right to hate me after all it was i who sent voldermort after you and caused the death of your parents, the day you were left with that scar.

As Harry looked at his class, he flashed back over his years at Hogwarts. He was proud to have been the one to break the curse on the Defense Against the Dark Arts teaching position and to now hold that position. To quiet the class and to start the lecture, Harry lifted his bangs and showed the class his famous scar.

It was over. Lord Voldemort would never rise again and Harry felt hope flood his body for the first time in his young life. That part of Voldemort that had forever imprinted itself on Harry’s forhead would lay dormant and painfree forever more.
The only pain that Harry would feel for eternity would be the loss of so many of those he loved. He was thankful for the mark that would remind him of the love his family and friends had shown him from birth. He would no longer try to hide his lightening bolt scar.

Harry sat down, in front of his parents’ graves. He buried his face in his hands. It was over. Voldemort was gone, but in return had paid a great price. He had lost everything-his friends, his family. The only thing he didn’t miss was his lightenning shaped scar.

She could not believe her eyes. Something was standing in front of her, but she could not say if it was human or not. Harry was screaming for her to run, but it seemed that she could no more breath than run. Lord Voldemort raised his wand toward Harry, and in the first act of kindness she had ever shown Harry, Petunia stepped between Harry and Lord Voldemort. Having already said the killing curse, Voldemort screamed. Petunia was the last Horcrux. Harry screamed “Avada Kedavra”! Lord Voldemort was dead before he hit the ground. Exhausted, Harry fell to the ground next to his now dead aunt. Harry would now be famous for more than just a little scar.

Harry laid his head back on the wet grass and closed his eyes. Voldemort was gone…forever. Despite the extraordinary amount of pain running throughout his body Harry managed a smile. After all the years he’d spent running, hiding, and fighting he could finally have a normal life.
“You did it, Harry,†whispered a voice in the back of his mind. It sounded like Sirius, like his parents, even like Dumbledore. It was all of them, Harry knew. They were all with him, celebrating his triumph.
He inhaled deeply the cool night air. The first sweet breath he’d had in months. He was just a boy again. Just a boy with a lightning shaped scar.

They were laying on the ground bleeding and trying to comprehend what they just saw. The complete silence was deafening as the battle was now over. Ron and Lupin looked up at each other wondering if it really happened. Ron staggered up and went to the grave of Voldemort’s father just to confirm that they were gone. Ron dropped down to his knee’s and said goodbye to Harry and Hermoine, the realization starting to set in that his best friends died to stop the Dark Lord from desroying the wizarding world. While the community would no longer have to live in fear, he knew life would never be the same and swore he would make sure that they would be remembered more than the book smart girl and the boy with the scar.

Their eyes met and there was a loud crack of thunder and it was done. The duel between the good Harry Potter and the Dark Lord Voldemort had finished, and the evil had won. With an evil crack of laughter and a swish of his sinister hand the Dark Lord had left. As the days went on sorrow entered the world and people were filled with pain. People begin to tell stories about him and about Harry Potter’s great wins. People remembered his laughter, his smile, and most of all his kindness. Not long after his death he was remembered as the boy, the boy with the scar.

After Hermione was discovered to be a Horcrux, after Harry and Ron found all of the Horcruxes, after Voldemort had destroyed Professer Lupen and Mr. Weasley, Harry looked at Neville, then Ginny, then Fred and George, and finally Ron. Ron knew what he had to do. Hermione stayed strong, knowing they were doing this to protect her. Ron took the blade in his trembling hand, and struck it into Hermione’s heart. In the distance, a faint scream arose upon them. Everyone was silent. Ron felt his hand burn. When he looked at it, he realized he had been cursed with a lightning bolt shaped scar.

Voldemort had just cast the killing curse upon Harry, feeling triumphant , he carelessly walked over a criticaly injured Harry. Harry struggled to get up, but managed to point his wand at Voldemort and say,” Avada Kedavra!” With that, Voldemort staggered to the cold grounds of Deathly Hallows, dying. He killed the unloyal Death Eaters who had ran in fear of the same fate as their master, wheezing out the killing curse. Harry lay unconsious, as Ron and Hermoine carefully picked up their good friend to take him to the infirmary. They did not even turn back to look at Voldemort who was now dead, his body fading to dust. Harry finally had killed his long time enemy who had murdered his parents and gave him his signature trait: his scar.

Harry colapsed, exhausted, on the bloddy ground. He flicked his hate-filled glance to the man- no, creature- who had tormented him his whole life. What he saw, though, was not a malicious glare or snicker. No, he saw the cold, lifeless body of Voldemort. Harry had done it. He had destroyed the evil that could have brought destruction to the whole world. A surge of energy and freedomm coursed through his tired body. He decided to crawl over to a small puddle of water to get a drink. When he peered over the water, he saw his reflection, free of the thunder-bolt scar.

The battle had come to an end. Harry and Voldemort were sprawled side by side in the bloody grass, each too weak to grip their own wands. One was alive, one was dead, or was soon to be. Suddenly, with out warning, Voldemort let out a bloodthirsty scream, seized his wand, and killed both Harry and himself with a flick of his wand; it was old magic, ancient magic. Their bodies were nowhere to be found, the only evidence that either one had ever existed was two phoenix feathers and a pair of glasses, each glass engraved with Harry’s scar.

Ron and Hermione ran as fast as they could through the dark halls of Hogwarts. Only a sliver of a moon provided light, showing the tears glistening on their faces. They both chanted what seemed to be spells ending with the name of Harry Potter. Suddenly they heard Dumbledore’s voice calling them. Immediately they stopped running and smiles appeared on their faces. If Dumbledore was alive then so was Harry! But where was he? Still inside Hogwarts with the professor? They ran to his office and there was Harry - bloody, but alive! Voldemort is dead and I am free, Harry calmly declared. But he sounded different - older, more mature than his years. Then he smiled and lifted his hair from his forehead - he was also free of his scar!
