The light-hearted Florida-based detective series “The Glades” has been renewed for a second season on A&E. That’s good news for South Florida film production. The series, starring Australian Matt Passmore, has become A&E’s most popular series.
This originally was going to be filmed in Tampa but the production crew pulled out, saying that South Florida was better equipped and more production friendly.
Production on 13 more episodes will start later this year in the Broward County area. They will air next year.
Passmore plays a cocky, fast-talking, former Chicago cop who solves crimes in sleepy little Palm Glade. The series also stars Kiele Sanchez (“Lost,” “Samantha Who?”), Carlos Gómez (“Shark,” “Sleeper Cell”) and Michelle Hurd (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”).
