A new nonfiction book details what happened at the Pentagon on 9/11. In Firefight: Inside the Battle To Save The Pentagon on 9/11, authors Patrick Creed and Rick Newman offer a detailed account of what happened that day as co-workers tried to save each other. They have interviews with Pentagon employees as well as Arlington, Vir., firefighters who arrived at the scene first and dealt with some of the most unusual and dangerous circumstances possible.
In fiction, Sarasota resident and novelist Jeff Shaara offers The Steel Wave, a “novel of World War II.” This is the second novel in what is a planned trilogy (the first was The Rising Tide). In this novel, Shaara goes inside the planning for some of the biggest battles of the war, with characters ranging from Omar Bradley to George Patton.
