TAMPA—Hillsborough County Commissioners gave special recognition today to New Tampa’s Wharton High School, which took home the school district’s Vernon Korhn Award for excellence in sports and academics.
Wharton teams took home the state title last year in boys’ tennis and soccer and was runner-up in girls’ track.
Here’s an except: WHEREAS, the residents of Hillsborough County are proud of these many accomplishments by the athletic program at Wharton High School, both on the playing field and off.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of County Commissioners of Hillsborough County, Florida, does hereby congratulate the
Wharton High School Athletic Program for its many championships and awards this year, and commends the school’s administration, coaches and sports team members for their persistence, commitment to hard work and excellence, and high level of academic achievement.
