TEMPLE TERRACE - Weather permitting, the skies over the city will dazzle in Independence Day splendor the evening of July 4.
The city’s annual fireworks display will begin at 9:15 p.m. The best place to view the show will be the first fairway of the Temple Terrace golf course along Woodmont and Belle Terre avenues, a City of Temple Terrace news release said.
City officials are asking spectators to leave their sparklers at home. They do not want any personal fireworks on the golf course.
In fact, city leaders would prefer residents leave all firework displays to the professionals, since most personal fireworks are illegal in Temple Terrace.
“If they bang, explode or soar into the air, they are illegal,” Temple Terrace Division Fire Chief David Becker said in the release.
Sparklers and similar items sold at reputable stores are legal, Becker added. Most products sold by vendors in tents, including firecrackers and bottle rockets, are illegal.
