HERITAGE ISLES—Faced with having to close the community pool nine days in the last two weeks because of fecal matter, Heritage Isles CDD board members voted to ban children from the pool unless they are potty trained.
Babies and toddlers will be required to wear swim diapers and will only be allowed in the kiddie pool.
Community Manager Todd Palmer said the pool has been a virtual poop magnet lately. He has video of eight raccoons hanging out on the pool slide, but some of the accidents were of the human variety.
“We have a zero tolerance policy - whether it’s animal or human,” Palmer said.
CDD Supervisor Dan Barravecchio said the rule is unfair to families with multiple children because parents would be restricted to the tot pool with their babies.
“You don’t think that’ll cause a backlash?” he asked.
“I’ll leave the politics to you,” Palmer said.
