NEW TAMPA - If you thought the traffic flow on Interstate 75 near Bruce B. Downs Boulevard would return to normal this week, you thought wrong.
Florida Department of Transportation crews will close lanes on I-75 tonight, June 24, to continue construction work on the Bruce B. Downs Boulevard flyover bridge to take traffic south on I-75 when completed.
FDOT will close one southbound lane on I-75, one mile north of Bruce B. Downs (Exit 270) between 9 p.m. and midnight today.
Last week, I-75 traffic at Bruce D. Downs was diverted because of the project.
State road workers began diverting and reducing the overnight traffic at I-75 and Bruce B. Downs last year. That’s when crews started work on an elevated bridge to make it easier for southbound traffic on Bruce B. Downs to enter I-75 southbound.
Happy trails.
