UNIVERSITY AREA – A new grocery store, Aldi, will open Thursday, Sept. 25, at University Plaza at Fletcher Avenue and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.
The store is one of 10 opening that day in the Tampa Bay area as the chain moves into this market. It is a no-frills store with shopping carts requiring a 25-cent deposit, which is returned to the shopper when the cart is returned.
The store is occupying part of the space previously used by U-Save Supermarket, which closed last year. The other part of the space is an Office Depot, which opened in August. The store hours will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
