For the first time in the Jon Gruden Buccaneer era, a Tampa Bay quarterback lined up in the shotgun formation. Several astute Bucs fans noticed and cheered
On third-and-eight, Bruce Gradkowski lined up in shotgun, but then called a timeout. And when the team came out of the timeout, Gradkowski was back under center, where he completed a pass to Michael Pittman.
But for the third time in two games, a Bucs offensive lineman was penalized for tripping (Jeremy Trueblood), and the Bucs were backed to the 35-yard line and out of field goal range.
So instead of taking a possible 10-0 lead into the half, the Bucs were forced to punt and the Eagles marched down the field in less than a minute to set up first-and-goal. But Shelton Quarles tackled L.J. Smith at the two-yard line as time expired and Philadelphia dejectedly walked into the locker room without any points.
