And to think: Donovan McNabb was sick before Matt Bryant’s last trip onto the field.
One can only imagine how the Eagles quarterback felt after Bryant’s ridiculously heroic field goal on the last play of the game. Actually, it’s not hard to picture at all, given that Fox cameras caught McNabb on the Philadelphia sideline once the outcome was settled, looking as though he was ready to retch. Again.
The Bucs, conversely, got a desperately-needed tonic to cure, at least temporarily, the psychological effects of an 0-4 start. At 2-4 and with an ominous trip to New York straight ahead, they’re still little more than a footnote to the NFC playoff race at the moment. But at least they haven’t yet been swept off the page altogether.
Still, you got the sense that the outcome was much more profound on the Eagles than on the hosts. Philly is locked in a bloodmatch with the Giants and Cowboys in the NFC East; and unlike the Bucs, they seem talented enough to stay relevant for the duration.
In the wake of their lost September, the 2006 Bucs will likely be remembered for little more than spoiling the hopes of fringe contenders. But if so, could there possibly be a better bunch to sicken than the one doubled over on Sunday?

The Trib writers should spend most of this week publicly eating their words. All picked Philly, and that’s understandable, but picking them by wide margins was inexcusable. I’ve been an avid fan and living-room student of this game for 40+ years. My best Bucs buddy, another football afficianado, called me Friday with his prediction: Bucs by 3. I said, “Nah--4. I’m thinking 21-17.” For every Trib writer to pick Philly in a blowout after watching the Bucs the previous 3 games is sick, and reflects the usual disdain for their own team evident in most of their self-indulgent blather. How about it, writers? You spend so much time pointing negative fingers at our team. How about owning up and treating yourselves the same way. You’re the ones who got trounced on Sunday, and that was part of the thrill.

I moved away from Tampa about a year ago - after the Bucs landed an amazing Superbowl victory. I’ve always harbored fond memories for my hometeam, especially since the Skins can’t seem to get their act together. Imagine my delight to see my Gruden and the gang lit up my TV screen Sunday afternoon. That last point gained my Philly nearly broke my heart… but I stuck it out and rooted for Bryant even when I thought there was no hope left. What a way to end a game! It’s only going to get better… Love from DC!

I went to the game with my mom, who’s an Eagles fan. I’m a Giants fan, so I was naturally on the Bucs’ side.
The end was very exciting, but I wonder how much of the sold out crowd is telling their co-workers “I was there” this morning, when, in fact, they weren’t. At least half of the stadium emptied after Westbrook’s touchdown, when my mom noted that it was silly for them to leave, given the Eagles’ penchant for giving games away at the last second (as they’ve already done twice this year BEFORE Sunday).
A good lesson learned for those 25,000 (or so) people who bailed on their team when they needed them the most. You missed one of the greatest kicks in NFL history because you had to get to your car 5 minutes earlier.

Watched the game on the net here in the UK. How many games do you think we can win with the poor offense this team displays? It appears we can win only if the other team meltsdown.
Cheap wins which I am sure will catch right back up to us again starting next week. The honeymoon will be over again. I know “a win is a win” but these type of wins show just what soft we are we must depend on the other team to implode. Lets earn a win Mr. gruden

I can understand that there could have been some discussion about picking the winner in this game, but if all the Tampa writers and all the Philly writers picked the Eagles, I have to wonder what they were all thinking. The Bucs have tormented the Eagles for years and I’ve seen enough of Ronde (and for that matter, Tiki) Barber to last a life time. The Philly fans knew this game was not the lock that all the experts expected, even if the writers could not see it.
